Rockets Finish Weekend at Crusader Invitational

Valparaiso, IN – The Toledo men's tennis team concluded its weekend at the Crusader Invitational in Valparaiso, IN.

"This weekend was just what the doctor ordered: lots of challenging matches and opportunities for our guys to prepare and compete over course of three days," said head coach Al Wermer. "It is clear that we have the makings of a very good team."

Freshman Luka Vitosevic won his second and third-round matches but fell in the Flight A singles championship match 6-2, 6-0 to Julian Childers of Illinois.

Sophomore Omar Espinosa lost his first-round match on Friday to Childers but went on to win the Flight A singles consolation bracket, beating a Youngstown state player 6-4, 6-4.

Freshman Reid Teatsorth lost in the Flight B singles consolation championship match in a three set battle (7-6 (4), 1-6, 10-6) to a player from Northwestern Ohio.

Sophomore Stephen Miller and freshmen Danilo Pejovic and Juan Carranza each lost in their second-round singles matches.

The Toledo doubles pair of Carranza and Pejovic lost in the Flight A consolation championship match 6-4 to the WMU pair that Vitosevic and Epsinosa beat in their first-round match

The Rockets continue their fall play next weekend, Oct. 22-26 at the ITA Midwest Regional tournament in South Bend, IN.
