Rockets Travel to Valpo for Crusader Invitational

TOLEDO, OH – The Toledo men's tennis team travels to Valparaiso, IN on Friday-Sunday, Oct. 16-18 to compete in the 2015 Crusader Indoor Invitational. The Midnight Blue & Gold will be sending seven individuals, including sophomores Stephen Miller and Omar Espinosa, and freshmen Luka Vitosevic, Danilo Pejovic, Serjen Olmedo and Reid Teatsorth.

"This weekend is a live tryout for us," said head coach Al Wermer. "We need more matches, more results, and more consistency. We have large opportunities coming beyond Valpo, plus we're anticipating our winter dual season."

Four flights of singles competition will use the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recommended NCAA singles format and two flights of doubles will play an eight game pro-set with no-added scoring.

Along with the Rockets, a field of 11 teams will be competing, including Illinois, Purdue, Northern Illinois, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, Cardinal Stritch, Northwestern Ohio, Western Michigan, Olivet Nazerene and host, Valparaiso.

The Courts of Northwest Indiana will serve as the host facility for the tournament.
