Toledo Places Sixth at Crooked Stick Intercollegiate

CARMEL, IN – Toledo finished in sixth place following Tuesday's final round at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate. The tourney was hosted by Big Ten Conference member Indiana at the renowned Crooked Stick Golf Club (Par-72, 7,516 Yards).
The Rockets registered a score of 44-over par 907 (305-292-311) to also finish tops among four Mid-American Conference squads in the two-day event. Eastern Michigan (314-299-301=914) placed seventh, followed by Ball State (304-303-311=918) in eighth and Northern Illinois (316-315-334=965) occupied the 11th spot, respectively.
Top ranked Illinois dominated the 12-team field with a mark of two-over par 866 (297-279-290). The Fighting Illini held a comfortable 19-stroke advantage over runner-up Purdue (292-293-300=885).
Individually, sophomore Stephen Watts tied for eighth place at four-over par 220 (77-72-71) to pace the Rockets. Watts fired a one-under par 71 in today's final round to post his second Top 10 finish of the fall season.
After Watts, senior Otto Black tied for 17th place at 12-over par 228 (75-76-77), sophomore Colin Joseph tied for 30th spot at 16-over par 232 (74-70-88), freshman Spencer Shoemaker tied for 43rd place at 21-over par 237 (79-79-79) and freshman Mike Lee tied for 56th spot at 27-over par 243 (85-74-84), respectively.
Illinois' Charlie Danielson secured medalist honors by three strokes over Kentucky's Tyler McDaniel, finishing with a three-round total of four-under par 212 (75-67-70).
UT will return to the links on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 19-20 when it travels to Bridgeport, WV to take part in the Mountaineer Intercollegiate.
