Toledo Places Fourth at Badger Invitational

MADISON, WI – Toledo finished in fourth place at the Badger Invitational on Tuesday at the University Ridge Golf Course with a score of 25-over par 889 (292-296-301).
Junior Otto Black keyed the Rockets' showing in the three-day tourney by registering his first Top Five finish of the season and fourth as a collegiate. Black (72-74-70) carded an even-par 216 to tie for third place in the individual standings, including a stellar two-under par 70 in today's final round. The Pinckney, MI native recorded a squad-best 13 birdies during the tourney, including five over the last 18 holes.
Senior Chris Selfridge (72-72-75) also had a good performance at the renowned University Ridge Course and tied for 10th place with a score of three-over par 219. Selfridge shot even-par each of the first two days to post his second Top 10 effort in three tourneys this fall.
Freshman Stephen Watts (74-73-77) also tied for 21st place at eight-over par 224, senior Mike Lancaster (74-78-79) tied for 48th place at 15-over par 231 and freshman Colin Joseph (74-77-81) tied for 52nd place at 16-over par 232.
Sam Houston State captured the team title by one stroke over Iowa State on the par 72, 7,259 yards University Ridge with a seven-over par 871. The Cyclones' Scott Fernandez earned medalist honors with a three-under par 213 (75-72-66).
The Rockets return to action on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 13-14 when they take part in the Sagamore Preview in Carmel, IN.
