
Toledo Finishes in 12th Place at Memphis Intercollegiate

CORDOVA, TN – Toledo concluded its opening tournament of the 2014-15 campaign at the Memphis Intercollegiate with a 12th-place showing. The 11th-annual tournament was held on the South Course (Par 72, 7,334 Yards) at the Colonial Country Club.
Louisiana Tech captured the tournament title with a 54-hole total of seven-over par 871, two strokes in front of second-place host Memphis and seven ahead of third-place Louisiana-Lafayette and Southern Mississippi.
Individually, Mississippi State's Ben Wood captured medalist honors by carding a five-under par 211 (71-69-71).
Senior Chris Selfridge paced UT at two-over par 218 (74-73-71) and tied for ninth place. Four strokes behind Selfridge was junior Otto Black who tied for 24th place at six-over par 222 (76-72-74), while freshman Stephen Watts tied for 32nd place at eight-over par 224 (72-75-77). Rounding out the Rocket lineup was senior Bobby Thomas (82-81-80=243, 73rd) and junior Thomas Shindler (84-81-82=247, 75th).
The Rockets will return to action on Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 22-23 when they host the Inverness Intercollegiate at the historic Inverness Club. Headlining this year's field will be nine teams - No. 12 Alabama-Birmingham (UAB), No. 32 Mercer, No. 33 South Florida, No. 37 Kent State, No. 38 Liberty, No. 52 Memphis, No. 54 East Tennessee State, No. 65 Charlotte and No. 78 Austin Peay - that were ranked in the Top 100 of the final 2013-14 Golfstat rankings. Also making up the field will be Michigan State and Yale.
