PITTSBURGH, PA - The Toledo men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Duquesne and wrapped up its busy weekend of play on Sunday afternoon. The Rockets finished the weekend with a 2-1 record after beating Youngstown State and Georgetown on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
"Not to take anything away from Duquesne, but we ran out of gas a bit today in our 12th match in 22 days," head coach Al Wermer said. "What's been great about this weekend is that we rested some guys and put others' feet to the fire. It was an excellent chance for us to grow."
Sophomore Grant Adams added another victory to close out a strong weekend. He defeated DU's Corey Robinson in very close match at No. 3 singles with scores of 7-6(10-5), 5-7 & 7-5, and a combined 5-1 on the weekend.
Senior Terence Weigand registered the other UT win in straight sets at the final singles spot.
The Midnight Blue & Gold will return home next weekend for a doubleheader on Friday against Ferris State and Wayne State.
