TOLEDO, OH - University of Toledo women's tennis coach Tracy Mauntler announced that Katelyn Nguyen (Anaheim, CA/Cypress High School) has a national letter of intent to join the Rockets in the fall of 2012.
Nguyen went 34-0 in singles as a senior and is a four-star recruit, according to tennisrecruiting.net. She made first-team all-league in her sophomore and senior years, and qualified for the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Toyota Championships in 2009-10.
Nguyen, who was named team MVP as senior, was 28-9 as a freshman and 31-7 as a sophomore. She did not play high school tennis as a junior.
"We are extremely excited for Katelyn to join our Toledo family," said Mauntler. "Katelyn is extremely quick and very smooth on the court, and I expect her to transition well to college tennis. Katelyn is battle-tested as she has been competing in the Southern California section, which is extremely challenging."
Nguyen is the third four-star recruit signed by Mauntler for the incoming class of 2012, joining Emily Mazzola (Chagrin Falls, OH) and Mackenzie Bowman (Bothell, WA).
