TOLEDO, OH - The Toledo women's volleyball program will open its spring season this weekend with a tournament at Oakland University on Saturday, March 17. The Rockets will face MAC foe Central Michigan, NCAA-II Division II schools Ferris State and Northern Michigan and NAIA member Rochester (MI) College in best-of-two matches.
"It's going to be good for us to get started," Head Coach Greg Smith said. "We're going to be seeing someone different on the other side of the net, and that will truly tell us how much we've improved since the fall and what we need to work on the rest of our spring."
The Rockets have been preparing for their spring schedule since beginning conditioning workouts in January followed by team practices starting in February. Following this weekend's tournament, UT will compete in tournaments at Eastern Michigan (March 24), the Dunes Volleyball Collegiate Challenge (March 31) and Michigan (April 14) .
The Rockets are returning nine letterwinners from last year's squad, including junior MB Dakota Harkins who ranked seventh in the MAC with a team-best .321 attack percentage.
