
Curtis Johnson, Football (1967-69)

Curtis Johnson won varsity football letters in 1967, 1968, and 1969 and was a member of two Mid-American Conference championship teams in 1967 and 1969. As a senior, he was a unanimous choice as a first team All-MAC defensive back and was named a second team major college All-American by both the Associated Press and Central Press. He was a tri-captain of Toledo's 1969 MAC and Tangerine Bowl championship team that was undefeated. After graduation, he was drafted in the fourth round in the 1970 National Football League draft by the Miami Dolphins, the highest ever at that time for a Toledo Player, he became a starting defensive back as a first year player on the 1970 world championship team and stayed with the team throughout his entire professional career, retiring after the 1978 season.
