Rockets Repeat as Falcon Invitational Champions

BOWLING GREEN, OH - Toledo repeated as champions of the Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club on Sunday en route to capturing its second tournament of the season. The Rockets shot a 42-over par 618 to outdistance second-place Western Michigan by 17 strokes. It was the eighth time UT has won the Falcon Invitational since 1996.
Sophomore Georgina Hunt earned medalist honors for the second time in her collegiate career by carding a six-over par 150 (78-72). She was the only individual to shoot an even-par round in the tournament and it was also the best she has shot as Rocket. Senior Marguerite Johnson tied for second place for her best showing as a Rocket with a nine-over par 153 (75-78). Junior Erica Rivard tied for fifth place at 12-over par 156 (83-73), junior Michelle Hui tied for 11th place at 16-over par 160 (81-79) and sophomore Piyathida Chaiyapan tied for 26th place at 23-over par 167 (89-78).
Also competing for Toledo in the tournament as individuals were junior Emily Hardcastle (81-79=160/T-11th) and sophomore Kaitlyn Van Gunten (86-89=175/T-48th).
"It's very exciting to win a tournament title," Toledo Head Coach Nicole Hollingsworth said. "I think everyone played well for us, and that's always good to see toward the end of the season."
The Rockets will now set their sights on the Mid-American Conference Championship to be held on Friday-Sunday, April 23-25 in Fishers, IN.
