Toledo Posts Shutout Win Over Wright State, 7-0

TOLEDO, OH - The men's tennis team hosted Wright State on Friday and shutout the Raiders, 7-0. This marks the third-straight 7-0 home victory for the Rockets (9-5) and the fifth 7-0 win this season, all of which have come at home.
"This was a workmen like performance by the Rockets," said Head Coach Al Wermer. "Again, it gave us a chance to build our depth by pulling a few of our regular starters out."
Jared Miller was once again the driving force of the UT win, winning in the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles spots. Miller defeated Brian Dredge in singles, 6-1, 6-3, and teamed with Knot Likitkumchorn in doubles to win 8-2.
Sven Burus posted wins in No. 2 singles and doubles, defeating Landon Neuman, 6-4, 6-2, in solo play and teaming with Robbie McCallum to defeat Neuman and Dredge in No. 2 doubles, 8-7(3). McCallum won the No. 5 singles spot for the Rockets over Wright State's Pip Rehg, 7-6(4), 6-1.
In No. 3 doubles. Levi Bent-Lee and Aleksandr Elezovic posted a 8-5 victory. Elezovic went on to win No. 3 singles over Alafriz, 6-2, 6-4, while Bent-Lee won the No. 4 singles spot over Byron Wowchuk, 6-2, 6-2.
Wade Ward took the No. 6 singles spot for the Rockets with a double-bagel victory over Brett Stewart, 6-0, 6-0.
Friday night was also the fan skills challenge at Laurel Hill Swim and Tennis Club and proved to be an entertaining moment of the evening.
"I have to say that our fan skills challenge was a spectacular success and in some ways, the most exciting segment of the night," Wermer added. "It is becoming a social event to attend a Rocket tennis match."
The Rockets head back out on the road to Indianapolis to face off against Butler and IUPUI on Sunday.
