TOLEDO, OH - The Rockets will conclude their fall schedule this weekend when they travel to Forest Oaks, NC to participate in the prestigious UNCG Bridgestone Collegiate on Oct. 24-25. The 54-hole event will begin with two rounds on Saturday, Oct. 24 with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round will be played on Sunday, Oct. 25 with teams teeing off No. 1 and 10 at 8:30 a.m.
UT will face an impressive field as 12 of the 15 teams are ranked in Golfstat's Top 100, led by Tennessee at No. 12 and Augusta State at No. 16. The remaining ranked teams are Duke (21), Virginia (26), Virginia Tech (30), Virginia Commonwealth (37), Georgia Tech (38), North Carolina (42), Michigan (51), Minnesota (52), Notre Dame (57) and Purdue (97). Michigan State and host UNCG round out the playing field.
Toledo is competing in the Bridgestone Collegiate Collegiate for a third straight year and finished 13th last season with a score of 915 (310-298-307). Junior Jean-Hubert Trahan was the Rockets' top finisher a year ago, carding a seven-over par 223 (73-75-75) and a 26th-place tie. Duke is the defending champion, finishing four strokes in front of second-place Michigan State.
The Midnight Blue and Gold will look to continue their momentum from their best tournament of the season as they finished second at the UD Fall Invitational earlier this week. Trahan and fellow junior Ben Boyer both placed in the Top Five as Trahan took fourth with a six-over par 148, and Boyer snuck in with a fifth-place tie at seven-over par 149.
The fifth-year tournament will be played about 10 miles from Greensboro at the scenic Forest Oaks Country Club. Previously home to the PGA Tour's Wyndam Championship, the golf course has received a 4.7 rating out of 5.0 from Golf World Magazine.
