Junior guard Tyrone Kent led UT offensively with a game-high 18 points, with junior guard Jonathan Amos the only other Rocket in double figures with 10 points.
The Rockets shot just 33.3 percent from the field and committed 18 turnovers in the contest but remained within striking distance for much of the second half. The key juncture of the game occurred late in the first half when the Cardinals hit three straight three-point field goals to take a 29-18 lead with 48 seconds to play in the opening stanza.
