Central Catholic standout earned first-team all-state honors and led Fighting Irish to state semifinals
TOLEDO, Ohio – Head Coach Tod Kowalczyk announced the signing of Manny Johnson (Toledo, Ohio) to a National Letter of Intent on Thursday. Johnson will join the Toledo Men's Basketball program on campus prior to the start of the 2026-27 academic year.
A 6-foot-3, 175-pound guard, Johnson earned first-team all-state honors this season after leading Central Catholic High School to the state semifinals and a program-best 23-4 record. He averaged 14.4 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 4.2 apg and 2.7 spg and posted a 58.2 FG% for the Fighting Irish on his way to also receiving first-team All-Catholic High School League and district player of the year honors.
"Manny comes from a great family and is someone I saw grow up and have a great deal of respect for," Kowalczyk said. "He had an unbelievable senior year at Central Catholic and led them to their best season in school history. Manny has a great upside and absolutely loves this community, and I'm really happy he has decided to join our program."
