Freshman Amber DeWeerdt Named MAC West Division Player of Week

TOLEDO, OH - Freshman outside hitter Amber DeWeerdt was named the Mid-American Conference's West Division Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. It is the first time in DeWeerdt's young career she has received the weekly honor.
A Plainfield, IL native, DeWeerdt registered a career-high 21 kills in both of Toledo's matches this weekend to nearly lead the Rockets to a pair of victories. She notched 21 kills and 13 digs against
DeWeerdt leads all MAC freshmen and ranks fourth in the conference with 3.66 kills per set.
The Rockets return to action on Friday, Oct. 24 at MAC East Division leader Miami, the first of five straight matches on the road.
