Rockets add middle blocker to 2026 roster
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo women's volleyball head coach Brian Wright announced the signing of Valparaiso transfer Lilly Merk on Tuesday. Merk is a middle blocker who joins the defending Mid-American Conference Tournament Champion Rockets as a junior.
"I am so excited for Lilly to join Toledo Volleyball," said Wright. "She is a hardworking and highly competitive person with strong family values, and a desire to chase championships and continue to grow the connection between our program and the city. She is also an excellent student with really big dreams and plans to purse a doctor of pharmacy. Lilly fits what Toledo Volleyball is about and I am excited for Toledo to get to know and support her."
A Terre Haute, Ind. native, Merk has seen action in 193 sets across 53 matches with the Beacons. She has totaled over 300 kills, 200 blocks and 35 aces throughout her two-year career.
The middle blocker tallied a career-best 13 kills against Missouri (9/19/2025) and set a career mark in total blocks with 12 against Northwestern (9/9/2025). Merk also has a career-high hitting percentage of .600, set against UIC (11/24/2024).
"I chose Toledo because of the goals and passion that the coaches have for this program, as well as the support they have for their players off the court," said Merk. "It is clear that the coaches and team are all bought in to all aspects, and awesome that the city has such great support for women's sports as well. I am excited to be a part of such a special program and community!"
At Terre Haute South Vigo High School, Merk earned AVCA Third Team All-American and ACVA All-Region honors as a senior and was an Indiana Senior and Junior All-Star Team member. She tallied over 1,000 career kills and was named first-team all-conference for her final three seasons, in addition to winning three consecutive conference championships.
