Softball Splits Doubleheader with Western Michigan

Toledo, Ohio - Toledo softball hosted Western Michigan in a doubleheader this afternoon at Scott Park Field. The Rockets lost the first game 3-1 and won 6-2 in the second game.
After a quick first inning of play, the Broncos made their mark on the scoreboard first scoring one run in the second inning off of a double. WMU then scored another two runs in the fifth inning.
Toledo finally scored their first run in the bottom of the sixth when three Rockets connected with the ball for three hits.
The Rockets finished the first game with one run and five hits. The Broncos finished with three runs and seven hits. Stephanie Moore and Hannah Rockhold split time on the mound for UT. Rockhold struck out two batters.
In the second game it was the Rockets that got on the scoreboard first. Andrea Wabol hit a three run homer in the bottom of the third inning sending Denise Van Vossen and Kate Ricchio to score. Following Wabol's homerun Leslie Stong stepped to the plate and hammered another homer for the Rockets. The Broncos answered back quickly scoring two runs at their next at bat.
Toledo then scored again in the fifth and the sixth innings to seal the win in the second game.
Rockhold took the win for the Rockets in the second game. Toledo finished with 6 runs on 9 hits. WMU had two runs on X hits. Four Rockets finished the second game with two hits each.
Toledo will take to the field again tomorrow afternoon when they will host the Huskies of Northern Illinois at 2 PM. Sunday, May 6 will be Senior Day at Scott Park. Seniors Stephanie Moore and Denise Van Vossen will be recognized before the game for their four years of dedication to the Rocket Softball Program.
