Scott Boley, Joel Visser Earn Academic All-District Honors

TOLEDO, OH - Junior 3B Scott Boley was named first-team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV and senior OF Joel Visser made second team. The Academic All-District teams are selected by members of the College Sports Information Directors of American (CoSIDA). District IV is comprised of colleges and universities in the states of Alabama, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Tennessee. A total of 11 student-athletes were named to each team.
Boley, a finance major with a 3.97 GPA, has started all 45 games at the hot corner this season, batting .315 with seven home runs and 36 RBI. The Celina, OH native has hit safely in 33 of those contests and ranks 10th in the Mid-American Conference in hits (58, 1.29). A two-time MAC West Division Player of the Week and member of the 2006 Academic All-MAC Team, Boley has also tallied 17 multi-hit and eight multi-RBI efforts in 2007. As a first-team selection, Boley is now eligible for consideration for Academic All-America.

Visser, an individualized studies major in University College with a 3.61 GPA, has started 39 games in rightfield, hitting .305 with three home runs and 22 RBI. The 2007 team co-captain has hit safely in 29 contests, including 16 of last 20.
Boley, Visser and the Rockets (23-22, 11-10 MAC) return to action tomorrow to begin a three-game series at MAC overall frontrunner Eastern Michigan. The first pitch from Oestrike Stadium is slated for 6:00 p.m. With only two weekends left in the regular season, UT is in fifth place in the overall league standings and would qualify for postseason action for the first time since 1999 if the season ended today. The top two finishers in each division automatically qualify for the tourney, which is slated to start at the site of the regular-season champion on Wednesday, May 23 followed by the next best two teams.
