Rockets Fall 7-1 to Eastern Michigan

Final Stats
Ypsilanti, Mich. - Toledo (7-28, 2-11 MAC) softball fell to Eastern Michigan (17-16, 7-2) in Mid-American Conference action today 7-1. The Rockets will get a shot at a victory tomorrow afternoon when they will play the second game of the series.
The first inning started with two Rocket hits when Leslie Stong singled and Alison Hess doubled, however UT could not finish the inning with a run. EMU stepped up to the plate and scored three runs to take an early lead.
Both team's defenses were able to hold the offense to no runs in the next two innings. Unfortunately, the Rockets were unable continue to hold the offense to no runs in the bottom of the fourth. After an impressive diving catch by Hess behind the plate for the first out, UT allowed Eastern Michigan run to score on two errors.
Freshman Hannah Rockhold came on to the mound in the fifth inning. She struck out two batters to keep the Eagles from scoring any runs that inning.
The Eagles scored three more runs in the bottom to the sixth. With two outs, Brittany Robbins stepped up to the plate and hit a homerun to record her first hit of the season.
Toledo finished the game with five hits and three errors while Eastern Michigan had five hits and one error. Stephanie Moore (3-17) took the loss for the Rockets striking out three batters. Rockhold also finished with three strikeouts.
First pitch for tomorrow's game is set for 1 PM at Varsity Field in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
