Softball Blasted By Central Michigan in a Doubleheader

Final Stats
Mount Pleasent, Mich. - In their final away weekend of the season, the University of Toledo (7-26, 2-9 MAC) softball team traveled to Central Michigan (15-16, 3-4 MAC) for an afternoon doubleheader. In the first game the Rockets fell to the Chippewa's 9-1 in five innings and 2-0 in the second game.
CMU held the Rockets scoreless for two innings while they scored five runs in the first inning. Finally in the third inning the Rockets were able to score when Valerie Moxim was walked home to score the only UT run of the game.
After Toledo finally got on the score board, the Chippewas scored another four runs in the bottom of the third inning. The game went one and a half more innings without a run being scored.
UT finished with six hits in game one. Brie Ford, Alison Hess, Valerie Moxim, Lacey LeVier and Andrea Wabol each had a single. Leslie Stong was walked twice and Ford had her fifth stolen base of the season.
In the second game, Toledo came out with a new line-up and a fresh scoreboard. The Rockets held CMU to two scoreless innings before the Chippewas came into the bottom of the third and score two runs.
Toledo was able to hold Central to just two runs the rest of the game but were unable to make a mark on the scoreboard themselves.
Taking the losses for the Rockets today were Sierra Pereira (2-6) in the first game and Stephanie Moore (3-15) in the second game. Also having time on the mound was Wabol who had the only strikeout in the first game. Moore also had a strikeout in the second game.
The Midnight Blue and Gold will play again tomorrow at Eastern Michigan who is currently in first place in the MAC West. First pitch is set for 2 PM at Varsity Field.
