Softball Loses Another Game to Miami, 11-8

Toledo, OH - After a slight delay due to the weather, Toledo (6-24, 2-8 MAC) softball played Miami (16-31-1, 6-6 MAC) in the second game of a two game series. The Rockets fell short to the RedHawks again today 11-8.
UT made their mark on the score board first, when Kate Ricchio scored a run off of a single by Leslie Stong. After a scoreless second inning, Miami answered back scoring three runs.
Toledo then came back to tie the game in the bottom of the third scoring two runs off of two doubles. Valerie Moxim hit a double sending Alison Hess home and then Lacy LeVier smacked another double sending Moxim home.
The RedHawks took off in the fourth inning scoring seven runs on the Rockets. Toledo tried their best to get back in the game scoring two runs. Ricchio scored on a throwing error by the catcher and Brie Ford scored on a single by Hess.
Another scoreless inning went by in the fifth, then in the sixth Miami started the inning scoring another run. Toledo quickly answered back scoring another two runs when Moxim and LeVier both hit their second doubles of the game.
In the bottom of the seventh Hess whacked her fifth homerun of the season to score the last run for the Rockets.
Ricchio went four for five and scored two runs and Hess was two for three with two runs. Pitcher Hannah Rockhold had the only three strikeouts of the game for Toledo.
The next game for UT will be Wednesday, April 18 when they travel to Youngstown State to play the Penguins in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 3 PM.
