Toledo now leads the all-time series with Northern Illinois by a 32-15 margin and has won its last three contests vs. the Huskies. The Rockets also have won 13 of their last 14 meetings vs. NIU at Savage Hall and are 22-4 all-time vs. the Huskies in Toledo.
Head Coach Stan Joplin is now 11-5 in his career vs. Northern Illinois and 4-3 in head-to-head meetings with NIU Head Coach Rob Judson. Joplin now has 149 career victories and moved into sole possession of 10th place on the MAC's all-time win list ahead of Kent State head coach and former Rocket assistant Jim McDonald (1983-92).
The Rockets have held each of their last three opponents to under 60 points. It is the first time since the first three games of the 1998-99 season that UT has accomplished this feat. The last time Toledo did this in MAC play was in the 1997-98 campaign.
UT registered season lows in free throws made (1) and attempted (3).
Toledo's 16-point win over NIU was its largest in a MAC game since a 100-64 victory over Ball State in the 2002-03 regular-season finale.
The Rockets limited Northern Illinois to 2-of-16 shooting (12.5 percent) from behind the three-point arc, well below its season mark of 41.1 percent which was tied for first in the MAC entering the contest.
Junior forward Anton Currie tallied a season-high 15 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field. Currie is the seventh Rocket to lead the team in scoring this season.
Sophomore forward Florentino Valencia registered a career-high three blocked shots to go along with 13 points and four rebounds.
