Mohammed Al Nabhani Named Toledo Athlete of the Week

Toledo, OH - Freshman Mohammed Al Nabhani was named Toledo Athlete of the Week today for his impressive showing in the International Tennis Association Regionals this past weekend at the University of Michigan.
The Muscat, Oman native won 6-2, 6-3 win in the first round of the singles qualifer before winning the first of two marathon three-set matches over Ty Schaub of Ohio State 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. Al Nabhani followed that stellar effort with a three-set win over Steve Peretz of the host Wolverines 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 to advance to the main draw of the tournament.
Al Nabhani started off the main draw with a grueling 7-6 (4), 7-5 victory over Butler's Brandon Gill before falling to one of the region's best players in Sheeva Parbhu (6-0, 6-2).
"Mohammed Al Nabhani had a spellbinding performance," Head Coach Al Wermer said. "Reaching the top 32 was a great accomplishment for a freshman."
