Toledo, OH - Toledo (5-22, 2-10 MAC) dropped a pair of games, 7-1 and 6-0, this afternoon to MAC East Division leader Marshall (30-10, 11-2 MAC).
Freshman Audrina Marler led the Rockets offensively with a three-for-four effort including UT's only base hit in the opener. Senior Vicki Nelson also registered three hits in seven at-bats in the twinbill for Toledo.
Marshall sophomore Randi Nielson (18-2) notched her fourth one-hitter of the season in the opener and retired the final 17 Rockets she faced after Marler's one-out double in the second inning.
The Thundering Herd jumped on top early with a run in the first but UT answered right back in the bottom half by loading the bases and scoring a run on a wild pitch.
Marshall then added a run in the third, three runs in the fifth and two in the seventh for its final margin of victory.
The Herd jumped out to another early lead in the second contest with three runs in the first sparked by a two-run homer by Allison Webb.
Marshall's Sarah Chamberlain (5-5) scattered seven hits over seven innings to pick up her second shutout of the season.
Toledo will return to action on Saturday, April 12 for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader vs. Northern Illinois.
