Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader Over Siena Heights

Toledo, OH - Toledo (8-16) extended its winning streak to a season-high four games with a pair of victories (15-3, 25-6) over Siena Heights (5-30) this afternoon at Scott Park.
Sophomore Mitch Maier (5-for-8, 5 runs, 4 RBI) and redshirt freshman Dan Ruth (4-for-6, 4 runs, 10 RBI) paced the Rockets' attack by slugging three homers apiece.
In its 15-3 win in the opener, UT snapped a 3-3 tie in the fourth inning with three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and eight in the sixth.
Five Rockets collected two hits in the contest - sophomore CF Sean Dobson (2-for-4), junior LF J.D. Foust (2-for-4, HR), junior DH Roger Hernandez (2-for-4), Maier (2-for-4, 2 HR), and senior 3B Mike Meinhart (2-for-4, 2 HR).
Freshman J.R. Duffey (1-1) earned the win by allowing three runs and seven hits in seven innings.
In the second game, the Rockets put the game away with a nine-run third inning to take a 14-3 advantage.
Dobson (4-for-5, HR, 4 RBI) led the way for UT's 23-hit attack followed by Maier (3-for-4, HR, 2 RBI), sophomore C Mike Meridieth (3-for-5, HR, 2 RBI) and Ruth (3-for-5, 2 HR, 7 RBI).
Junior Brian Kovacs (1-3) notched the victory for Toledo.
The game was called due to rain in the bottom of the sixth inning with the bases loaded for the Rockets and one out.
Toledo will be at Morehead State this weekend for a pair of single games on Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14.
