Toledo Head Coach Stan Joplin:
"We finally made some shots. It's been a real frustrating time for us over the last six games because we just couldn't make any shots. I knew we were a better team than we had shown. I said one day it's all going to come together. Hopefully this is the start of something that we can build on. We took the same shots tonight as we've taken the last six games. Tonight they just fell for us."
"I thought we did a good job defensively also. The players wanted to press so we did and I think that hurt Akron a little bit. I was afraid to press because we're short on guard and our bench hasn't been playing well. I think every game we're in is going to come down until the last two or three minutes, and I want to keep our guys as fresh as possible."
On stopping Akron's three-point attack:
"After watching them vs. Northern Illinois on Monday hit 15 of 22 threes, we didn't want to give them open jump shots. We wanted to make them work for everything. Our players stuck to our principles and stayed on their shooters."
