Baseball Drops Two Games to Central Michigan (May 7)

Mt. Pleasant, MI - Toledo (17-31, 6-18 MAC) dropped both games of a doubleheader today at Central Michigan (36-13, 16-6 MAC). The Chippewas took the first game, 10-6, and the nightcap, 11-10.
The Rockets opened the first game with one run in the first, but the Chippewas also scored one run in the first and held the lead for the entire game.
Starter Junie Melendez suffered the loss. Melendez gave up 8 runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings.
In the nightcap, the Chippewas scored five runs in the first and one in the second to take the early lead. UT came back to tie the game on a three-run homer by Taylor Eckel in the second and a three-run homer by Tony Miller in the fourth.
Central Michigan scored two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take the lead, 11-6. Toledo scored four runs in the sixth on a solo home run from Miller and a three-run homer from Mike Ernst.
Hurler Kris Barnswell took the loss for the Rockets, giving up nine runs in 4.2 innings.
Toledo travels to Cleveland, OH on Tuesday, May 9 to take on Cleveland State at 3:00 p.m.
