Jordan Armstrong is entering his third season as an assistant coach for the University of Toledo women's volleyball program in 2026.
Armstrong serves as the team's offensive coordinator as well as works with the setters. He helped lead Toledo to its first-ever Mid-American Conference Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in 2025 and served as the interim head coach during the 2024 National Invitational Volleyball Championship run. During his two years with the Rockets, he has overseen six student-athletes earn All-MAC postseason honors including Grace Freiberger who was named the first MAC Defensive Player of the Year in program history as well as Taylor Alt, the first player in UT Volleyball history to be a five-time All-MAC honoree. Following the 2025 MAC Championship, freshman Jessica Costlow earned MAC Tournament MVP honors while Freiberger and Kelsey Smith were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Additionally, Armstrong helps oversee team academics and assisted the Rockets in earning the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 25th-consecutive season in 2025, a streak that ranks second-longest in the nation. He also has a hand in recruiting and coordinating all of Toledo Volleyball's summer camps while working to increase camper registration and opportunities for participants. Armstrong assists with scheduling, travel logistics, fundraising and sponsors with the team as well as supervises a group of student interns that focus on team analytics.
A Burnt Hills, N.Y. native and a recipient of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's 30 Under 30 Award, Armstrong joins the Rockets after spending the last four seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Jacksonville. Prior to his time with the Dolphins, Armstrong served as an assistant coach at Akron for four seasons (2016-19). He helped turn around the Zips' program from an 8-20 record in 2016 to a 17-12 record in 2019 and the team's first MAC Tournament appearance in seven years.
Armstrong has also served as an assistant coach for the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program, working with both the boys' and girls' programs since 2017. Additionally, he served as the head coach of the Ohio Valley Region High Performance Girls Select Team, which competed at the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships in Tulsa, Okla. and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Under his tutelage, Armstrong's teams improved from a 10th-place finish in the National Select Division in 2018 to first place in 2019, capturing the Ohio Valley Region's first gold medal ever.
Armstrong graduated from Purdue Fort Wayne in 2015, where he served as a team captain as a senior. He later earned his master's degree in sport administration and leadership from Akron in 2018.Â
