Junior libero posted double-figure digs against Missouri and Dayton
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo junior libero Grace Freiberger was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, the league office announced. This is the second consecutive week that a Rocket has received a conference honor.
Freiberger paced the Toledo defense in a 1-1 weekend, where the Rockets posted a 3-2 win over Missouri on Friday night. The victory over the Tigers was UT's second-straight win over a 'Power 4' opponent, which is the first time since 1990 that Toledo has won two consecutive matches against P4 teams.
Freiberger had 43 total digs on the weekend, firing off 4.30 digs/set, including a season-best 29 digs against Dayton on Saturday. The junior has tallied double-figure digs in all 10 contests this season and is up to 148 total digs, averaging 3.89 digs/set.
The Lima, Ohio native also had five service aces on the weekend, leading to a total of 16 on the season, averaging 0.42 aces/set. She currently ranks fifth in the MAC in both digs/set and service aces/set.
