PAUMA VALLEY, Calif. – Sophomore Bence Bertenyi fired a one-under par 70 to pace the Toledo men's golf team in Tuesday's second round at the Pauma Valley Invitational.
The Rockets improved their team total by three strokes from Monday and sit in 14th place in the team standings at the par-71, 7,311-yard Pauma Valley Country Club. Â The Rockets are just five and nine shots behind No. 2 Virginia and No. 10 Texas Tech, respectively. The tournament field consists of six of the nation's top 10 teams and nine of the top 20.
No. 15 Tennessee continues to lead the 17-team field at 11-under, with No. 20 Georgia Tech one stroke behind. The Volunteers' Lance Simpson and SMU's William Sides are at the top of the individual leaderboard at eight-under par.
Bertenyi is tied for 29th place at even-par after registering a team-high six birdies today and playing his final six holes at three-under par. In Monday's opening round, Bertenyi registered 17 pars and just one bogey.

Senior Mads Jensen and junior Solomon Petrie were one shot behind Bertenyi after shooting one-over par 71s today. Jensen played his first 12 holes at three under-par buoyed by a stretch of four birdies in five holes, while Petrie was at even-par until bogeying the final hole.
The third and final round will be held on Wednesday with tee times off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees beginning at 8:00 a.m. PT.
