BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team fell in this season's second game of the Battle of I-75 sponsored by Fremont Federal Credit Union, dropping a 61-52 decision to Bowling Green at the Stroh Center on Saturday.
The Rockets (14-11, 8-6 MAC) fell behind after a second-quarter run by the Falcons (15-12, 7-8 MAC) that put them behind by 15. After climbing within single digits at halftime, the Rockets fell further behind in the third quarter and were unable to sustain a rally in the final 10 minutes.
Toledo held Bowling Green to just 39.7% from the field, but were held to just 36.4% on the offensive end. The Falcons had eight makes from three compared to six for the Rockets, and won the turnover battle, 21-11 while holding a 19-4 edge in points off turnovers.
Quoting Head Coach Ginny Boggess
"I felt that Bowling Green was ready to play and compete from start-to-finish. It felt like they were the more inspired and competitive team today. Credit to them and their players for making big shots to open things up, and we just really struggled to score today. Their defensive game plan was tremendous. We were lacking some energy without Faith Fedd-Robinson out there, so I'll need to find a solution for that."
