Junior Sonny Wilson leads Toledo with 20 points and five assists
TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo fell behind early and then battled back in the second half but couldn't overcome a hot-shooting Miami squad on Friday night in the Rockets' 87-73 setback to the RedHawks before a season-high 5,143 fans in Savage Arena. The loss drops Toledo to 9-7 overall and 3-1 in Mid-American Conference play, while Miami (17-0, 5-0 MAC) remained as one of the six unbeaten teams in the nation. The RedHawks are ranked No. 1 in the collegeinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
Junior Sonny Wilson led Toledo with 20 points, connecting on 8-of-13 shots from the field and adding a team-high five assists. Senior Sean Craig posted his fifth double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Freshman Leroy Blyden Jr. chipped in 12 points, including a team-best three triples, while junior Austin Parks added 10 points.
Antwone Woolfolk paced the RedHawks with 21 points, while Brant Byers tallying 20 and a team-high seven boards.
QUOTING HEAD COACH TOD KOWALCZYK:
"Miami moves the ball as well as any team I've seen during my 16 years in our conference. They are a really good team. Travis (Steele) has done a tremendous job turning around their program and that helps our league. We can't feel sorry for ourselves and need to bounce back. We had a great crowd tonight, especially without our students in town and I'm disappointed we didn't play with more urgency and toughness in the first half."
