Leah Evans records eighth-best 200 backstroke time in school history
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Toledo women's swimming and diving team picked up nine top-three finishes on the first night of a dual meet against Bowling Green in the Battle of I-75 sponsored by Fremont Federal Credit Union on Friday evening. The Falcons lead the Rockets, 122-44.
Junior Leah Evans broke into the top-10 in the 200 backstroke for the second time this season. Evans tallied a final time of 2:00.24 to rank eighth all-time and place second in the event.
Freshman Lindsay Bright recorded a second-place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a mark of 17:09.77, good for a B cut final time in the CSCAA's National Invitational Championship event in March.
Two Rockets earned podium finishes in the 50 free as senior Janne Slegers placed second (23.46) and Helena Pinto Coelho Lopes earned a third-place finish (23.51). Freshman Maggie Spybook took second in the 200 butterfly (2:04.83) while sophomore Grace Henely touched the wall with a time of 2:19.38 in the 200 breaststroke to earn second-place honors.
