Toledo to Visit UMass on Tuesday for First MAC Meeting vs. Minutemen

Rockets to return home on Saturday for Stripe Savage matchup vs. Bowling Green
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's basketball team (10-8, 4-2 MAC) looks to bounce back from a three-point setback at Kent State when it travels to Amherst, Mass. on Tuesday, Jan. 20 to face UMass (11-8, 2-5 MAC). Tip-off time from the Mullins Center and Toledo's first-ever Mid-American Conference matchup vs. the Minutemen is set for 6:00 p.m. with streaming on ESPN+.
Toledo is alone in fourth place in the MAC standings, trailing only Miami (19-0, 7-0), Akron (14-4, 5-1) and Kent State (14-4, 5-1).
The Rockets led by as many as nine points in the second half on Friday before the Golden Flashes rallied for an 87-84 win. Leroy Blyden Jr. led UT with 19 points and four three-point field goals. Joining Blyden in double digits were Austin Parks (16 pts.) and Sonny Wilson (15 pts.). Blyden also tied for the team lead by grabbing six boards, while Wilson dished out a team-high six assists.
Toledo held a 41-35 halftime advantage before a 14-2 run gave KSU a 57-53 lead with 12:35 remaining. Blyden's triple gave UT its last lead of the night, 62-61, with 9:19 left. The Rockets reduced their deficit to three points twice in the final four minutes but couldn't come any closer.
The Rockets are led by the backcourt trio of Wilson (17.4 ppg), Blyden (15.6 ppg), and Kyler Vanderjagt (11.2 ppg) along with the frontcourt tandem of Craig (12.9 ppg) and Parks (11.9 ppg).
UMass saw its two-game winning streak snapped with Saturday's 70-68 loss at Northern Illinois. Leonardo Bettiol (17.0 ppg) and Marcus Banks Jr. (16.2 ppg) rank in the MAC's Top 10 in scoring, with Bettiol ranking fifth in the MAC with 7.4 rpg. Danny Carbuccia ranks second in the conference with 5.8 apg.
