Tucker Gleason Selected to Davey O’Brien “Great 8”

TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo quarterback Tucker Gleason was named to the Davey O'Brien Award's "Great 8" for Week 5, it was announced on Monday.

Gleason earned the award after a stellar performance under center in Toledo's 45-3 Mid-American Conference victory over Akron on Saturday. He turned in a 16-of-19 performance for 237 yards and three touchdowns, adding another score on the ground.

All four total touchdowns came in the first half, where Gleason went 15-for-16 passing to help the Rockets build up a 35-3 lead. He also set a career high for completion percentage at 84.2 and reached 5,000 career passing yards in the win. Gleason was also picked as the Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance.

Gleason was selected for the weekly national quarterback recognition for the second time in his career. He was also picked for the "Great 8" after Toledo's Week 3 win at Mississippi State in 2024.

The senior was named among 16 quarterbacks for Week 5 recognition, after the foundation used their "Davey Double" for the season. All quarterbacks recognized for a Davey O'Brien weekly honor are also included on the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award watch list. Gleason was selected for the watch list in the preseason.

The Rockets (3-2, 1-1 MAC) return to the gridiron in Week 7 for the Battle of I-75 on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Bowling Green.
