Toledo Set for 2025 MAC Outdoor Championships

Rockets own top conference times in the 800m, 1500m and 5000m
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's track and field team will head to the 2025 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Championships in Athens, Ohio this weekend, competing across three days at Goldsberry Track on the campus of Ohio University on Thursday-Saturday, May 15-17.
Competition begins on Thursday at 5:00 p.m. with the javelin, Friday at 3:00 p.m. with the long jump and Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with the triple jump.
Laura Nicholson owns the top 800m (2:04.80), 1500m (4:07.17) and 5000m (15:33.04) times in the conference entering the championship. In the 1500m, the Rockets have four of the top five times in the MAC as Karina James (3rd/4:23.01), Lianna Surtz (4th/4:23.27) and Alex Bauer (5th/4:23.33) follow Nicholson.
Senior Emily Vining owns the second-best 3000m steeplechase time in the conference at 10:35.60. Sophomore Nora Hark ranks third in the MAC in the javelin with a throw of 43.44m.
Three Rockets medaled at last year's outdoor championship in DeKalb, Ill., with Hark taking second, while Mercy Kinyanjui and Nicholson brought home two gold medals each. Toledo placed sixth with 66.5 points in the 2024 conference championship.
