DEKALB, Ill. – The Toledo men's tennis team fell to Mid-American Conference opponent Northern Illinois, 4-3, in DeKalb, Ill. on Saturday.

Poonthong Komolpisut and Hanamichi Carvajal started off doubles play with a 6-3 win on the No. 1 court. However, Northern Illinois (8-13, 1-7 MAC) tallied wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to earn the doubles point and an early 1-0 lead.

In singles play, the Huskies extended their lead, 3-0, as Komolpisut fell on the No. 1 court and Olivero retired on the No. 3 court. Carvajal put Toledo (9-10, 3-6 MAC) on the board, 3-1, with a three-set win, 1-6, 6-3, 7-5, on the No. 2 singles court. Cole Cozens followed behind with a straight set win on the No. 4 singles court to get the Rockets within one, 3-2.

Lucas Britez claimed a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win on the No. 6 singles court to even the match, 3-3. Junior Joshua Mackey then closed out the match with a three-set loss on the No. 5 court.
