Rockets Set to Take on Central Michigan and Buffalo This Week

Toledo enters the week having won four of its last five games

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo softball team will play five Mid-American Conference games this week. Action begins with a home doubleheader against Central Michigan on Tuesday, April 15 and wraps up with a three-game series at Buffalo on Saturday-Sunday, April 19-20.

The Rockets (12-23, 5-9 MAC) enter the series having won four of their last five games, with two victories each over Michigan State and Ohio last week.

Central Michigan enters the weekday doubleheader with an 19-18 (11-4 MAC) record. Buffalo has an overall record of 9-26 (4-10 MAC) and will play Kent State on Wednesday before the weekend series.

Rocket Notes
  • Toledo is 5-9 in MAC play and still very much alive for a spot in the MAC Tournament. The Rockets are in eighth place, trailing sixth-place Akron (6-6) and seventh-place Bowling Green (7-9) for the sixth and final spot in the tourney.
  • The Rockets took the series over Ohio last weekend, winning two out of three games. Sophia Knight appeared in all three games, tallying her first save of the season and her first shutout win of the year. Knight owns a staff-best 3.33 ERA this season.
  • Toledo ranks first in the MAC in double plays per game (0.46) and second in double plays (16), stolen bases per game (1.26), and total sacrifice bunts (30).
  • Eli Enriquez is third in the league in stolen bases (14) and has stolen 48 bags in her career. Enriquez ranks seventh in program history.
  • Sidney Griffith is second in the conference in sacrifice bunts per game (0.17) and fifth in toughest to strike out (19.5). Griffith has struck out only six times in 117 at-bats.
