Toledo to Host Ohio on Senior Night on Friday

Rockets posted 86-83 road victory over Bobcats in January

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's basketball team (16-14, 9-8 MAC) closes out its regular season on Friday, March 7 when it hosts Ohio (16-14, 10-7 MAC) in Savage Arena. The contest will tip off at 7:00 p.m. with streaming on ESPN+. A post-game Senior Night ceremony will follow the contest.

Toledo is tied for fifth place in the league standings with Eastern Michigan (16-14, 9-8 MAC) and is currently the No. 6 seed in the MAC Tournament. The Rockets trail the Bobcats and Kent State (20-10, 10-7 MAC) by a game.

SERIES
Ohio leads 72-69.
Toledo has won seven straight as well as 12 of its last 13 meetings vs. Ohio. The Rockets have won seven straight games in Athens and six in a row vs. the Bobcats in Savage Arena.

MAC TOURNAMENT SEEDING SCENARIOS
Toledo can finish as the No. 4-6 seed in next week's MAC Tournament with its seeding being determined by the outcomes of its game vs. Ohio as well as Eastern Michigan's game at Kent State.
• Both Toledo and EMU win, the Rockets will be the No. 5 seed and face No. 4 Kent State.
• Both Toledo and KSU win, the Rockets will be the No. 4 seed and face No. 5 Ohio.
• Both Toledo and EMU lose, the Rockets will be the No. 6 seed and face No. 3 Ohio.
• Both Toledo and KSU lose, the Rockets will be the No. 6 seed and face No. 3 Ohio.

LAST TIME OUT
Sam Lewis tied his career high with 23 points (21 in the second half) in Toledo's 96-87 home loss to first-place Akron on Tuesday. Javan Simmons also established a new scoring best for a second-straight game with 22 points to go along with a team-best six rebounds.

The Rockets trailed by 24 points early in the second half before rallying to within three points with 2:14 remaining.

ROCKET LEADERS
Sam Lewis and Sonny Wilson are leading Toledo with 15.7 and 15.4 ppg, respectively. Simmons is averaging 12.1 ppg and a team-high 6.6 rpg. Simmons leads the MAC with 3.1 offensive RPG.

ABOUT OHIO
Ohio dropped an 83-79 decision to EMU on Tuesday and possesses a 3-9 record on the road this season. The Bobcats rank third in the MAC with 79.6 ppg, a 46.9 FG% and a 35.8 three-point FG%. AJ Clayton is averaging a team-best 14.3 ppg and leads a balanced attack that has four Bobcats scoring in double figures. Jackson Paveletzke is also averaging 13.3 ppg and ranks third in the MAC with 4.9 apg.

POST TOUCHES
• Six Rockets scored in double digits in Toledo's 86-83 victory at Ohio on Jan. 28.  Bryce Ford, Seth Hubbard, Lewis and Wilson each tallied 15 points.
• The Rockets rank second in the MAC in attendance at 4,381 fans per game. Ohio ranks first with 4,485 fans.
• Sam Lewis ranks sixth in the MAC with a team-high 15.7 ppg. He has a team-high eight 20-point outings this season after tying his career high with 23 points vs. Akron on Tuesday.
• Sonny Wilson ranks eighth in the MAC with 15.4 ppg. He leads MAC guards and ranks ninth overall in the MAC with a 52.0 FG%.
• Javan Simmons leads the MAC with 3.1 offensive rpg (3.8 in MAC) and is third in MAC play with 8.2 rpg. He is averaging 21.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg with a 68.4 FG% (13-of-19) and a 100.0 FT% (16-of-16) in his last two games.

ON THE HORIZON
Toledo will head to Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio for the MAC Tournament on Thursday-Saturday, March 13-15.
