First 300 fans to receive Rocket ornament at holiday game
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's basketball team will play its final game before taking a holiday break when it hosts NAIA foe Lourdes University (9-2) on Saturday, Dec. 20. Tip-off time from Savage Arena is set for 12:00 p.m. with streaming on ESPN+.
The first 300 fans will receive a Rocket ornament. Fans are also encouraged to take part in the annual Teddy Bear Toss at halftime and can meet Santa Claus on the West concourse.
Toledo (5-6) dropped a 92-69 decision at No. 9 Michigan State (10-1) on Tuesday night in the Breslin Center.
Junior Sonny Wilson scored a career-high 29 points to lead the Rockets. Wilson shot 10-of-15 from the floor, dished out a team-high five assists and grabbed a career-best four steals. Freshman Leroy Blyden Jr. finished with 10 points and was the only other Rocket to score in double digits.                      Â
The Rockets are led by the backcourt duo of Wilson (17.3 ppg) and Blyden (13.6 ppg) along with the frontcourt tandem of Sean Craig (13.3 ppg) and Austin Parks (11.3 ppg). Craig leads UT with 7.3 rpg, with Blyden setting the pace with 4.6 apg and 1.8 spg.
Lourdes' five-game winning streak was snapped with Wednesday's 87-73 defeat at Cleary University. Sophomore Derek Fairley scored a team-high 30 points in the loss, marking his fourth 30-point outing of the season.
Fairley leads the Gray Wolves with 24.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, an 80.6 FT% and a 39.4 three-point FG%. Freshman Blake Robison (11.6 ppg), freshman Charlie Wood (10.4 ppg) and senior Stephen Coleman Jr. (10.4 ppg) are also scoring in double digits for Lourdes.
