Freshman Leroy Blyden Jr. leads five Rockets in double figures with 20 points
TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo men's basketball team closed out its pre-conference slate in dominant fashion on Saturday afternoon, powering past NAIA foe Lourdes University by a 100–67 margin in Savage Arena. The Rockets (6-6) produced one of their most efficient offensive performances of the season, shooting 58.3% from the field and assisting on 29-of-42 made baskets.
Five Rockets scored in double figures as Toledo controlled the game from start to finish.
Derek Fairley topped the Gray Wolves with 34 points.
By the Numbers
Toledo will open Mid-American Conference play on Tuesday, Dec. 30 vs. Western Michigan at 6:30 p.m. at Savage Arena. The Rockets will then play their next two league games on the road at Central Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 3 and Northern Illinois on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
Five Rockets scored in double figures as Toledo controlled the game from start to finish.
- Leroy Blyden Jr. led the way with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, including three three-pointers.
- Sonny Wilson orchestrated the offense with 17 points, career-high eight assists, and zero turnovers in 28 minutes.
- Kyler Vanderjagt added 13 points and knocked down three triples.
- Sean Craig posted an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double, his activity helping Toledo dominate the glass.
- Jaylan Ouwinga provided a boost off the bench with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting.
