Rockets and Spartans to tip off at 6:30 p.m. on Peacock Network
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's basketball team (5-5) heads to East Lansing, Mich. to battle No. 9 Michigan State (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) on Tuesday, Dec. 16. Tip-off time from the Breslin Center is set for 6:30 p.m. with streaming on Peacock.
The Rockets are looking to bounce back from a pair of close defeats on the road — Saturday's 75-70 defeat at Robert Morris and a 98-97 setback at Oakland on Dec. 6.
Toledo held a 42-24 halftime advantage against the Colonials primarily due to a 23-0 run that put the Rockets ahead 34-13 with 5:43 left in the first half. The Colonials opened the second half with a 15-1 spurt to trim UT's lead to 43-39 and eventually took a 60-56 lead with 5:41 left following a 7-0 burst. The Rockets couldn't draw within closer than three points the remainder of the contest.
Sonny Wilson led Toledo with a game-high 21 points. Sean Craig added 15 points and six rebounds, while Austin Parks contributed 13 points, eight boards and two blocked shots.
The Rockets are led by the backcourt duo of Wilson (16.1 ppg) and Leroy Blyden Jr. (14.0 ppg) along with the frontcourt tandem of Craig (13.8 ppg) and Parks (12.0 ppg). Craig leads UT with 7.8 rpg, with Blyden setting the pace with 4.9 apg and 2.0 spg.
