Matias Olivero, Hanamichi Carvajal each claim singles victories

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo men's tennis team fell to Mid-American Conference foe Western Michigan, 5-2, on Saturday at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club.

The Broncos (14-9, 3-3 MAC) took a 1-0 lead after grabbing the doubles point with a 6-2 win on the No. 1 court and a 7-5 victory on the No. 2 court and won four of the six singles matches.

In singles play, Toledo (9-8, 3-4 MAC) tied the match at 1-1 when Matias Olivero delivered a straight-set victory on the No. 2 court with a 6-2, 6-4 result. However, the Broncos quickly rebounded when Poonthong Komolpisut fell to Anton Arzhankin 6-2, 6-2. This was followed up by another Western Michigan victory on the No. 5 court when Joshua Mackey fell in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, putting WMU up 3-1.

The Rockets rebounded on the No. 2 court when Hanamichi Carvajal defeated Ashton Adesoro 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. The Broncos clinched victory with Matej Kajzer's victory over Lucas Britez, 7-6(7-4), 7-6(7-3). Cole Cozens fell to Corwin 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 for Western Michigan's fifth point.

UP NEXT
Toledo will look to rebound at UIC on Thursday, April 3. The match will be at the XS Tennis Village with first serve at 1:00 p.m ET/noon CT.
