TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo track and field team opens the outdoor season at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C. on Thursday-Friday, March 27-28. The meet will begin at 1:15 p.m. with the women's javelin throw and men's distance events on Thursday. Action will resume at 3:45 p.m. on Friday with women's distance events. Fourteen Rockets will compete this week.
Sophomore
Nora Hark will return to the field to compete in the javelin throw on Wednesday. Hark earned Second Team All-MAC honors in 2024 after placing second in the javelin at last season's MAC Outdoor Championships. On the women's side, Toledo will be represented on Thursday by

Morgan Hicks,
Karina James,
Mercy Kinyanjui,
Laura Nicholson,
Gabby Phelan,
Bailey Ranta,
Lianna Surtz and
Emily Vining. There will also be four men competing on Wednesday as Loann Brevelit, Max Matollin, Dominc Serem and Joshuah Taylor will see action.
LAST TIME OUT
Toledo women's track and field placed sixth in the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships in Ypsilanti, Mich. on March 1.
Laura Nicholson became the first Rocket to win three individual events at the conference championship meet. Nicholson took home gold in the mile run (4:43.58), the 800m (2:06.75, school record) and the 3000m (9:29.38). The senior also earned MVP honors of the meet and was named the MAC Most Outstanding Women's Track Performer.
The distance medley relay team of Surtz, Bauer,
Samantha Thomas and Kinyanjui broke the school record in the event (11:23.70) and placed second. Kinyanjui placed second in the 3000m (9:32.44), while Surtz took fourth in the mile (4:48.86) and Bauer earned a fifth-place finish in the mile (4:50.89).
