TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's basketball team will begin its fourth-consecutive national postseason tournament when the Rockets take on Minnesota in the WBIT first round on Thursday, March 20 at Savage Arena. Tipoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN+ with radio broadcasts on WCWA 1230 AM and The Varsity Network app.  
 
The Rockets (24-8) will look to win a postseason game for the fourth-consecutive season. Minnesota (20-11) looks to secure its most wins in a season since 2018-19. The winner will move on to face No. 3 seed Missouri State or Oral Roberts on Sunday, March 23 at a site to be determined.
 
Toledo reached the 2025 MAC Tournament championship game as the No. 2 seed last week, defeating Central Michigan and Buffalo before falling to No. 1 seed Ball State in the finals. Khera Goss and Sammi Mikonowicz were named to the MAC All-Tournament Team.
 
The No. 2 seed Golden Gophers will play their first game since March 5, when they were defeated by Washington, 79-65 in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. 
 
The Rockets and the Golden Gophers will play in their first all-time meeting.
 
Toledo will play as the road team while Minnesota will play as the home team as the higher seed.

Rockets' Recent Postseason Success
  • Toledo will play in its fourth-consecutive national postseason tournament and 24th all-time when it takes the court on Thursday.
  • Toledo has a 6-3 record in its last three national postseasons.
  • The Rockets reached the quarterfinals in the 2022 WNIT and 2024 WBIT, and won its first-round game against Iowa State in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.
Toledo vs. the Big Ten/Power Conferences
  • Toledo will play its third opponent from the Big Ten this season, having lost to Iowa on Nov. 13 and Maryland on Dec. 1. Both Iowa and Maryland reached the NCAA Tournament as at-large selections.
  • In its last matchup vs. the Big Ten at Savage Arena, Toledo took down Michigan, 69-46 on Dec. 6, 2023, matching its largest margin of victory against UM in program history.
  • The Rockets also knocked off then No. 14 Michigan on Dec. 8, 2022 in Ann Arbor, giving Toledo the opportunity to win against the Big Ten for the third-straight season.
  • If Toledo is victorious, it will be the Rockets' fourth win over a power-conference opponent in the last three seasons.

  • Toledo is 29th in the country with a +6.6 rebound margin.
  • The Rockets have out-rebounded 22 of their last 26 opponents.
  • Toledo is 46th in the country in field goal percentage, shooting 45.0% from the field this season.
  • The Rockets shot 50% or better this season nine times. The Rockets also shot a blistering 56.5% (13-of-23) from three-point range in the MAC quarterfinal matchup against Central Michigan.
Of Note
  • Toledo is 13-1 at Savage Arena this season, including an eight-game winning streak. Toledo will play its first home game since an 80-70 victory against Central Michigan on March 1.
  • Toledo is one of nine teams to play in both the 2024 and 2025 WBIT tournaments. The other schools are Belmont, Florida, Hawaii, James Madison, Missouri St., St. Joseph's (Pa.), Seton Hall and Villanova.
  • Nan Garcia has eight double-digit scoring outings in her last 12 games. She is averaging 11.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals in that span.
  • Sammi Miknonowicz is fourth in the MAC with a 52.1% field goal percentage. She has made five or more field goals in each of her last seven games, shooting 59.7% (40-of-67) in that span.
  • Khera Goss shot 8-for-14 (57.1%) in the MAC Tournament and is fifth in the league at 40.9% this season.
  • Head Coach Ginny Boggess is coaching in a national tournament for her third-straight season and is 1-2 in the last two years. She led Monmouth in the 2023 NCAA Tournament and 2024 WNIT.
  • Should Toledo win, Boggess would tie Bill Fennelly (1988-89) and Mark Ehlen (1995-96) for the most wins by a first-year Head Coach in program history.
