Toledo Sweeps Duquesne for Fourth-Consecutive Win

Rockets earn all seven points against the Dukes on Sunday afternoon

TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team swept Duquesne, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa. to record its fourth-consecutive win. Sophomore Jone Ibanez clinched match point with a 6-1, 6-3 straight-set victory on the No. 4 singles court.

The Rockets (4-0) took the point in doubles play, after earning wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Gaby Rondon and Annika Munson picked up the 6-3 win on the No. 2 court, while Audrey Moutama and Jacklynka Scholten fell on the No. 1 court, 6-3. Jone Ibanez and Catherine Rhegness clinched the doubles point for Toledo with a 6-4 victory on court No. 3.

In singles play, freshman Jacklynka Scholten got the Rockets started by winning her fourth-straight match in straight sets on the No. 3 court to put Toledo ahead, 2-0. Annika Munson and Jone Ibanez tallied wins on the No. 5 and No. 4 courts, respectively, to clinch the victory for the Rockets and take a 4-0 lead.

Audrey Moutama took down Duquesne's Mila Badics on the No. 1 singles court, 6-3, 7-5 to put Toledo in front, 5-0. Freshman Catherine Rhegness captured her win in a three-set tiebreaker on the No. 6 court, 6-3, 5-7, 10-2. Play concluded as sophomore Gaby Rondon took a three-set tiebreak victory, 6-4, 2-6, 10-6, on the No. 2 singles court to clinch the sweep of the singles courts for the Rockets.

Toledo (4-0) will go on the road to Morgantown, W. Va next weekend to take on West Virginia on Feb. 15 at 1:00 p.m. and Temple on Feb. 16 at 10:00 a.m.
