Sean Craig tallies 17 points and Austin Parks adds 15 points and team-high five boards
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Four Rockets scored in double figures but it wasn't enough for the Toledo men's basketball team in its 87-72 setback to Belmont in the championship game of the Royal Palm Division of the Geico Coconut Hoops tournament in Alico Arena. UT (4-3) saw its four-game winning streak snapped with the defeat, while the Bruins remained unbeaten at 7-0.
The game featured 12 ties and nine lead changes and was tied at 61-61 with 10:12 remaining. Belmont gained control with a 9-0 run though, and the Rockets couldn't come closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Senior Sean Craig led Toledo with 17 points, while junior Austin Parks added 15 points and a team-high five rebounds. Freshman Leroy Blyden Jr. chipped in 14 points, and Sonny Wilson scored 13 for the Rockets.
Belmont was paced by Tyler Lundblade, who scored a game-high 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting from three-point range. Sam Orme added 18 points and seven rebounds.
The Rockets forced 20 Belmont turnovers, but the Bruins held a 39-21 advantage on the boards.
QUOTING HEAD COACH TOD KOWALCZYK:
"I'm obviously disappointed with the loss. Belmont is a good team and Tyler Lundblade is one of the best shooters in the country. We had 10 of our 12 turnovers in the first half and that really hurt us. We need to be stronger with the ball and that's something we're going to work on as we continue to prepare for conference play."
ROCKET LEADERS
