AKRON, Ohio // UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Three Rockets grabbed wins in individual events at the Akron Invitational and Penn State National Open on Friday. At Akron,
Sydney Caddell brought home gold in the long jump with a final mark of 5.59m while
Samantha Thomas grabbed first in the 200m with a time of 24.56. At Penn State,
Morgan Hicks took first in the 5000m, crossing the finish line at 16:59.93.
Also in Akron, freshman
Addison Lee tallied a third-place finish in the long jump with a 5.37m final mark. Fellow freshmen
Chloe Pyles took fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.75m.
At Penn State,
Cadence Christie recorded a final time of 2:11.00 in the 800m, the fifth-best time in the 800m event in program history. Junior
Bailey Ranta took second in the 5000m, following behind Hicks with a time of 17:09.93.
Two other Rockets placed within the top-10 in the event with junior
Aubrey Duhaime taking seventh with a time of 17:29.99 while redshirt freshman
Bella Earl grabbed 10
th with a mark of 18:09.19. In the mile run,
Laura Nicholson recorded a final time of 4:35.95 to take seventh overall in the event.
