TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team concluded the Rocket Invite on Saturday afternoon, closing out their first fall tournament of the season with wins in eight of the final day's nine matches.
The Rockets' eight victories included wins in all five three-set matches. The team combined for an overall record of 22-15 during the two-day tournament.
Toledo went head-to-head in singles and doubles play with familiar foes DePaul, Michigan State and Youngstown State at the UT Varsity Courts and Twos Athletic Club.
"I was so impressed at the way this young squad competed this weekend," said head coach
Tracy Mauntler. "They showed me a lot of fire and I'm excited to see what else they can accomplish this fall."
Junior
Audrey Moutama led the way for the Rockets, posting a 5-1 record throughout the weekend. Moutama went 2-1 in singles play and teamed up with
Jone Ibanez in doubles competition for a 3-0 record.
Four freshman,
Neha Guru,
Annika Munson,
Catherine Rhegness and
Jacklynka Scholten, earned wins over the competition throughout the tournament. Guru and Munson tallied a doubles win over Youngstown State's Lilil Minich and Ghada Dirninger.
On Friday,
Jacklynka Scholten took down DePaul's Eva Goncharov in straight sets while
Catherine Rhegness earned a two-set victory over DePaul's Roberta Sechi. Sophomore
Gaby Rondon went 2-1 in singles play, earning wins over Michigan State's Hanna Tsiavets and Youngstown State's Lili Minich.

Toledo will send a handful of players to the ITA Midwest Regionals in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday, Oct. 10 – Sunday, Oct. 13.
