Rockets to compete against three MAC schools and four Big Ten members in 15-team field
TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo men's golf team is heading to the Hoosier state this weekend to compete in the fourth-annual Purdue Fall Invitational in its third tournament of the season. The Rockets will be competing at the par-72, 7,546-yard Kampen-Cosler Course at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex on Sunday-Monday, Sept. 22-23.
The tournament will consist of 54 holes, with 36 holes on Sunday and 18 more on Monday. Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
A tournament for individuals will also be held at Purdue's Ackerman-Allen Course on Sunday and Monday.
The Field
Toledo is part of a 15-team field that includes three other MAC schools - Ball State, Miami, Northern Illinois - and four more Big Ten members - Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin. Also competing are Butler, Illinois State, Marquette, Purdue Fort Wayne, Southern Illinois, VCU, and Western Kentucky.
Last Time Out
Toledo finished ninth at the Inverness Intercollegiate on Sept. 9-10. The tournament field included six of the top 12 amateurs in the world. Senior CJ van Wyk tied for 14th place with a two-over par 209 to lead the Rockets. Junior Mads Jensen was two strokes behind van Wyk at four-over par 211 (72-67-72) and tied for 23rd place. Freshman Bence Bertenyi carded the Rockets' best round of the tournament in the final round by registering seven birdies to finish with a three-under par 66.
Last Time at Purdue
The Rockets posted a third-place finish at the 2021 Purdue Fall Invitational. The Rockets' 54-hole score of one-over par 865 trailed first-place Indiana by just seven strokes and the host Boilermakers by six shots. Lukas Clark led Toledo by tying for ninth place at one-under par 215. David Amm tied for 22nd place at two-over par 218, while Barend Botha tied for 26th place at three-over par 219.

This weekend's lineup will include senior CJ van Wyk at No. 1, junior Mads Jensen at No. 2, sophomore Marijn Hoogeveen at No. 3, junior Bence Kotel at No. 4, freshman Julius Lange at No. 5. Competing in the individual tournament for the Rockets will be freshman Bence Bertenyi, senior Jamie Butler, and sophomore Mason Deal.
